In Guatemala, approximately one in every twenty people are deaf. The vast majority are undereducated, oppressed and undervalued. Most do not have a language and little means of communication.  Guatemala Deaf Ministries is providing a sense of community through the many different activities happening each week. Nearly 50 deaf children are attending our school with classes for deaf adults as well. In the afternoons, eighteen students are learning vocational skills that will help them succeed in life. There are parent classes, community classes, a deaf fellowship once a month, and church services on Sunday. The staff consists of both hearing and deaf, young people and adults.
