Escucha Mis Manos

Called Escucha Mis Manos (Listen to My Hands), the school started in 2012 with 8 or 9 students. The teachers were Greg, Jeanette, and Jonathan. It has slowly grown and now there are 50 students and 8 teachers. Most classes are held three days per week. We are now able to offer a program called PRONEA, which operates through the Ministry of Education in Jutiapa. This is a special program for students who have aged out of either primary, middle, or high school, and allows them to move at their own pace in studying and passing exams for each of these levels and receiving their diploma. It is such a joy to see deaf children learn a language for the first time.
